IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is an umbrella term for services and applications that enable TV viewing over the Internet Protocol. This technology offers the possibility to use an existing network for distributing tv and radio channels, videos, digital signage and internet content. IPTV content is send via LAN and WAN. What is needed for IPTV?

A source for an IPTV system can be a provider, satellite headend, PC, Blu-Ray player or camera. Is your source a satellite dish? Then a gateway is used to convert a DVB signal to IP; an encoder is used to convert the signal to IP with sources such as a PC, media player or camera.

You also need an IP distribution network. Usually this is an existing computer network with UTP cabling or a wireless network.

Finally, you choose the device from which you view the distributed signal. This can be mobile devices, but also a PC or a (smart) TV. Intronics will be happy to advise you.
